ALMIRON HOLDS PREMIER LEAGUE RECORD

Paraguay midfielder Miguel Almiron is the recipient of the fastest goal in the Premier League this season after he netted his first goal this term during the win over West Brom at the weekend. The Paraguay international hit the opening goal of the game after 19 seconds to set hosts Newcastle United on their way to victory over struggling West Brom. Miguel Almiron holds the record for the quickest goal as a result of that strike against the Baggies. He has scored that solitary goal plus one assist in 11 league games this season though he was more productive in the EFL Cup this term with one goal and two assists in three games.

The early goal from Paraguay international Almiron gave the Magpies a slender first half. Fullback Darnell Furlong equalised for the visitors five minutes into the second half. The Baggies were closing in on a point until the final ten minutes of the game when substitute Dwight Gayle powered in a header off the cross from another substitute to win the game for Newcastle United. Miguel Almiron played for 86 minutes before he was subbed off for United States of America international De Andre Yedlin. The Newcastle United has scored two goals in 26 outings for Paraguay since his international career started five years ago.

Miguel Almiron could not build on his goal against the Magpies after he found himself on the bench for the trip to Leeds United on Wednesday. He was introduced into the game for the last 15 minutes with the scoreline at two goals apiece. He came on for summer signing Ryan Fraser and the Paraguayan couldn’t help much as his team went on to concede three goals in the last thirteen minutes of the game to lose the game 5-2 for their fifth league loss this season.
