Miguel Almirón has played in a number of different roles at Newcastle United. Since his arrival from Atlanta United in January 2019, the Paraguay international’s enthusiasm, stamina and speed have made him a positionally flexible player for the Magpies. However, since the start of last season, Almirón has been earning more and more minutes on the right side of United’s attack. Almirón started 2021/22 playing in central midfield, staying there until October. He then dropped out of the starting eleven for a spell until returning to the line-up to play on the right side of the attack in the Magpies’ first win of the season – the 1-0 victory against Burnley last December.

After dropping back to the bench at the start of 2022, Almirón returned to the side for the last-gasp defeat away to Chelsea in mid-March. This started a run as first choice on the right side of Newcastle’s front three that would last until the end of the campaign. A comparison of Almirón’s performances before and after this game at Stamford Bridge is revealing. Consistent selection in the same position and role in the team was followed by an uplift in his performances.More Link

Everton are showing interest in bringing Miguel Almiron to Goodison Park before next Thursday’s deadline. That is according to The Guardian’s Ed Aarons, who claims that Newcastle United will only sanction a permanent exit for the 28-year-old Paraguayan international. Everton are still winless in the Premier League, and it seems Frank Lampard’s side faces the prospect of another frustrating season at Goodison Park. And it is not just troubles on the pitch that have blighted their season thus far.

Richarlison’s sale to Tottenham and the continued injury absence of Dominic Calvert-Lewin have already come back to bite Everton, with the Toffees struggling for both creativity and precision in the final third in their opening three league games. And rumours regarding Anthony Gordon’s future are also unraveling in the background.More Link

Paraguay national team player Miguel Almiron was one of the absentees for Newcastle United during their crucial league trip to face West Brom at the Hawthorns in a week 28 game in the Premier League this season. Newcastle United and West Brom are actors as far as the relegation battle is concerned in the Premier League this season. The two teams met in the first game played on Sunday in the Premier League and they both had to settle for a goalless draw. Newcastle United had chances to win the game but the Joelinton-led forward line was not clinical enough to score the goals that could have taken the Magpies further away from the relegation zone. A lot of Newcastle United fans would have wanted Paraguay national team footballer Almiron to be fit for the game. He has shown that he’s more clinical in front of goal this season and his finishing could have proved useful for his team during the West Brom game. The Paraguay player missed the West Brom game because of the knee injury suffered during the last league game, a 1-1 draw at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers. The early update on the knee injury is that the Paraguay international won’t be back in action until next month.

Paraguay midfielder Miguel Almiron is the recipient of the fastest goal in the Premier League this season after he netted his first goal this term during the win over West Brom at the weekend. The Paraguay international hit the opening goal of the game after 19 seconds to set hosts Newcastle United on their way to victory over struggling West Brom. Miguel Almiron holds the record for the quickest goal as a result of that strike against the Baggies. He has scored that solitary goal plus one assist in 11 league games this season though he was more productive in the EFL Cup this term with one goal and two assists in three games.

The early goal from Paraguay international Almiron gave the Magpies a slender first half. Fullback Darnell Furlong equalised for the visitors five minutes into the second half. The Baggies were closing in on a point until the final ten minutes of the game when substitute Dwight Gayle powered in a header off the cross from another substitute to win the game for Newcastle United.
